GFi 27/27 CJC Filter Insert

The CJC™ GFi 27/27 Gear Filter Insert is engineered specifically for use in wind turbine gearbox applications, where high oil cleanliness and conditioning are essential. It is designed for filtration and flushing of gear oils operating under harsh conditions, including air entrainment, variable temperatures, and used oil environments.

The GFi 27/27 is suitable for oils with viscosities in the range of ISO VG 320–480 cSt, making it ideal for modern wind turbine gear systems.

Filtration Performance

Particle Removal
The CJC™ GFi 27/27 is designed to remove both hard and soft particles across a wide particle size range.

• Particles larger than 1 µm are removed primarily by mechanical filtration

• Particles smaller than 1 µm are removed by Van der Waals forces and electrochemical attraction

Documented filtration efficiency:

• 21 µm absolute: >99.9% retention

• 6 µm absolute: >99.5% retention

• 4 µm absolute: >99.0% retention

• 2 µm absolute: >80.0% retention

• 1 µm absolute: >50.0% retention

• 0.1 µm absolute: >10.0% retention

Degradation Product Removal

Oxidation by-products such as resin, sludge, used additives, and wax formations are retained by the advanced cellulose media. The insert can absorb and adsorb approximately 1 kg of soluble oxidation products.

Used wind turbine oil often contains catalytically active atomic iron (Fe), which accelerates oil degradation. ICP analysis has documented that the CJC™ cellulose fibre combination effectively reduces the level of free iron in the oil.

Water Removal

The CJC™ GFi 27/27 is capable of removing large amounts of free water from oil systems. In documented cases, it has removed up to 4,000 ml of free water.

Construction and Materials

The GFi 27/27 consists of bonded double discs made from four different types of cellulose fibres, each performing a specific role in filtration and oil conditioning.

The large internal surface area of the cellulose fibres also enables the insert to act as a free radical scavenger, helping reduce the rate of oil degradation and extend oil service life.
