CJC ® Ion Exchange Inserts (EC Fuller's earth, EO aluminum oxide, EL ion exchange material) are used to neutralise acids in special fluids, such as transformer oil, engine oil or phosphate ester control fluid.
Ion exchange efforts can, among other things:
- Reduce the total acid number (TAN)
- Increase the surface tension
- Reduce breakdown of the oil/liquid
- Increase the breakdown voltage (Ω).
By reducing the acid content, the life of the oil/fluid is extended and the system's components are protected against aging and wear.
The amount of acid reducing filter media required to recover the oil varies from oil to oil. Among other things, it depends on the water content, the temperature of the oil and particle contamination.
Filtered transformer oil can be expected to reach a level equal to or better than new oil.
Filtered gas engine oil can result in reduced TAN and thus extend oil change intervals. Combined with a Fine filter, Si levels will also be reduced.
EC Filter Inserts
Specially designed for adsorption of oil degradation products and reducing acidity.
CJC® EC Filter Inserts are made for adsorption of oil degradation products, reducing varnish and acidity and increasing the resistivity of the oil.
EC Filter Inserts contain Fuller´s Earth, a natural adsorbent primarily of aluminium silicates (clay minerals). Its large surface area enables enhanced non-selective adsorption of oil contaminants such as acidic oil degradation and oxidation by-products, resins, sludge, and varnish. The EC Filter Inserts may be used to remove varnish and acidic oil degradation products from high temperature oil and thus reduce the TAN and MPC values.
The EC Filter Inserts must be used in combination with CJC® cellulose Filter Inserts as post filters, either in the last stage of a CJC® HDU multi stay Filter or in a CJC® HDU single stay Filter using hybrid Filter Inserts.
Applicable in the following oils:
- Mineral oil
- Hydraulic fire resistant fluids (HFD)
- Glycol oil - Polyalkylene glycols (PAG)
- Ester oil - Polyolester oil (POE), Phosphate Ester oil, Environmentally acceptable Lubricants (EAL) and biodegradable oils.
Used in the following applications:
- Transformer insulation
- Gear and bearing lubrication
- Hydraulic systems
- Compressor lubrication
- Turbine lubrication
- Engine lubrication.
EL Filter Inserts
Specially designed for elimination of oil degradation products and reduction of acidity
The CJC® EL Filter Inserts are used for removing oil degradation products, reducing varnish and acidity and increasing the resistivity of the oil. EL Filter Inserts contain ion exchange resins for selective ion exchange reactions. The EL Filter Inserts may be used to remove varnish and acidic oil degradation products from synthetic oils and thus reduce the TAN and MPC value. They are ideal for removing acids created during hydrolysis of ester oils.
The EL Filter Inserts must be used in combination with CJC® cellulose Filter Inserts as post filters, either in the last stage of a CJC® HDU multi stay Filter or in a CJC® HDU single stay Filter using hybrid Filter Inserts.
Applicable in the following oils:
- Hydraulic fire resistant fluids (HFD)
- Glycol oil - Polyalkylene glycols (PAG)
- Ester oil - Polyolester oil (POE), Phosphate Ester oil, Environmentally acceptable Lubricants (EAL) and biodegradable oils
Used in the following applications:
- Gear and bearing lubrication
- Hydraulic systems
- Electro-Hydraulic control (EHC) of Steam Turbines
- Compressor lubrication
- Turbine lubrication
- Engine lubrication.
EO Filter Inserts
Specially designed for neutralisation of acidic oil degradation products.
CJC® EO Filter Inserts are made for elimination of oil degradation products, reducing varnish and acidity and increasing the resistivity of the oil.
EO Filter Inserts contain aluminium oxide filter media. Its large surface area enables enhanced neutralisation of oil contaminants such as acidic oil degradation and oxidation by-products, resins, sludge, and varnish. EO Filter Inserts may be used to remove varnish and acidic oil degradation products from high temperature oil and thus reduce the TAN and MPC values.
The EO Filter Inserts must be used in combination with CJC® cellulose Filter Inserts as post filters, either in the last stage of a CJC® HDU multi stay Filter or in a CJC® HDU single stay Filter using hybrid Filter Inserts.
