The CJC™ EC 27/27 Insert is used in CJC™ Fine Filters and is specifically engineered to reduce acidity in operating fluids. Acidic compounds are commonly formed through hydrolysis as a result of high thermal loads or water contamination and can significantly impact fluid performance and system reliability.

If left untreated, these acidic components can lead to corrosion, deposits, reduced lubricity, and accelerated oxidation. The EC 27/27 insert helps neutralise these acids, slowing further degradation and extending fluid service life.

Typical Applications

The EC 27/27 insert is suitable for use with:

  • HFD fluids (phosphoric ester-based fluids)

  • Transformer oils (insulating oils)

  • Crankcase lubricating oils for gas engines

Neutralisation Performance

CJC™ EC 27/27 inserts neutralise acidic components within the fluid, helping stabilise oil condition and protect critical system components.

For HFD fluids, a maximum recommended neutralisation number of 0.5 applies.
The neutralisation number represents the amount of potassium hydroxide (KOH), measured in milligrams, required to neutralise the free acids in 1 gram of fluid.

Neutralisation Capacity (Approximate Values)

  • 0.06 with 1,000 litres of fluid

  • 0.03 with 2,000 litres of fluid

  • 0.015 with 4,000 litres of fluid

The CJC™ EC 27/27 insert consists of a durable polyester needlefelt bag filled with 7 kg of fuller's earth, providing effective acid neutralisation within the filtration system.
